Yes, I was watching this and I am very much amused.

I would put money on Trump doing this delay on purpose. And I would go as far as to say, Trump's announcement may be over in time for Maria's show

I doubt it. He was likely making sure other remarks, e.g. by Pentagon, Pence, etc. were not contradicting anything he would say.

I am so glad President Trump's announcement and press conference (turning into one) preempted Chrissy Wallace's anti-Trump show. Glad that Astros beat Chrissy's Nationals last night.
