So it’s all very well and good that Lindsey can get 50 or 51 senators to “condemn the House impeachment proceedings,” but..uh..so what? It carries no real weight to verbally, or even by vote, to condemn the House proceedings. Schiff will just go one doing his thing behind closed doors, and eventually they will vote to impeach. We already knew the Senate would never vote to convict (i.e., remove from office) Trump, so this pre-condemnation means nothing. But, go ahead Lindsey, you can appear like you’re doing something.

Yes, but 50 senators (plus Pence) could simply decline to consider any charges coming out of the secret hearings. Worse, from Pelosi’s POV, they might subpoena Schiff and put him on the hot seat. They can’t do that under any other circumstances, I agree - but in the context of an impeachment . . .
