Trump Organization weighs sale of DC hotel amid ethics concerns

The Trump Organization is reportedly looking into selling the lease rights to its Washington, D.C., hotel, which has been scrutinized over whether President Trump is profiting off of the presidency.

Eric Trump, the president’s son and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, told the Wall Street Journal the company has tasked JLL, a commercial real estate firm, with marketing the Trump International Hotel, which opened in 2016 and is located down the road from the White House in the Old Post Office.

“Since we opened our doors, we have received tremendous interest in this hotel and as real estate developers, we are always willing to explore our options,” Eric Trump said in a statement.

The Trump Organization’s ownership of the hotel has prompted ethics questions and numerous lawsuits as to whether the president, who still has a financial interest in the company, is flouting the Constitution.

Of course it was scant hours after the news broke that Trump wanted to host the G7 gang at Doral. One of the cats that chased this laser dot on the carpet was the Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh. His bold law enforcement department has just filed suit against Jarod Kushner’s entities that own thousands of apartment units in buildings located in Baltimore City and other areas in Maryland. The crux of that lawsuit is that Kushner’s people filed eviction motions against the poor black people who had not paid rent. Well, what do we want? What you got! When do we want it? NOW!! Yeah.

He turned over the daily operations of his business interests to his children. I don’t think that constitutes establishment of a blind trust.

Didn’t Trump set up a blind trust like all other previous Presidents?

He did not.

I know that the prices for any first class hotel in DC are over rated and when I was in business, I only stayed in them when a company expense report was involved.

Since I have retired, I avoid the over priced rates, BUT I think I am going to book a coupla day stay at the Trump International in DC before they dump it.

I know it will be pissing several thousand dollars into the rabbit hole, but I will take a few pix, have a few over priced drinks at some of the bars, and develop a few good memories.

I love Donald J. Trump, and the lefties can ESAD.

The nerve of Trump EARNING money while he’s in politics. He should make it the old-fashioned Joe Biden way.

What if his base buys it? How much would we each need to kick in?

RATs bullied Eric and Lara to walk away from their charitable work with St. Jude’s. (How many kids died because of the lost funding?)

Now this. He needs to keep the hotel — and build on to it.

Just going to the lobby or the restaurant is worth it. I always loved the Old Post Office. I really love it as the Trump Hotel.
