From the beginning of its "long march through the institutions," the Left has been playing the long game. That hasn't changed. Leftists are playing it today.
Why did they take over the media? The universities? Hollywood? To get their hands on the key levers of propaganda. Add to this the leftward tilt of Google, Facebook, and Twitter, and we're looking at a virtual lockdown on the primary sources of information and public influence.
In his classic 1965 study "Propaganda," Jacques Ellul painstakingly lays out methods and effects of various types of propaganda. Ellul perceived that the development of technology and explosion of information made propaganda unavoidable, even in democracies. And he warns us against its pernicious and insidious effects, as it can, and often does, co-opt a person's belief system — even one's ability to grasp reality.

Ie questioning Comey’s loyalty is obstruction, when it is Comey working for Obama and not Trump who obstructs justice
Or that ambassador saying there was a quid pro quo for aid if Ukraine did not help on a communist crime inquiry... ok, so now the old antiMcCarthy are again saying in a way that an anticommunist probe is illegal, and withholding funds from potential enemies plotting a communist overthrow is illegal! So, behind this madness , they create media-sphere pseudo populist rules. We can also see with their lamentable repetition that opposing Obama is racist etc.
The article makes an essential point but misses the value of the term Trump Derangement Syndrome as a weapon of counter propaganda. We are in a new phase of the long war with the Left.

This description overlooks something: the propagandists, the thread spinners of media and academia, are themselves victims of propaganda. Their history and philosophical traditions have been denied them. Their outlook is not very sophisticated, and it’s gotten brittle.
How do you get two generations bred and raised in the cradle of leftist doctrine to see beyond the nursery walls? This is the only perspective they have, the only moral universe that exists for them. Without their dogma they are morally rudderless.
The appeals to their attention will have to be targeted at something a little lower on the ladder of human needs and wants.

This emphasizes the importance of separating as many people as possible from mass media and social media, as well as government education. Not just ourselves and our immediate families, but children and young adults.
Those with more influence and more ability will be vital in this endeavor. Somehow, independent education, freedom from the ever-blaring TV *news*, lessening the reliance of the surviving mass print media, abandoning FB/Twatter and the rest, substituting other search engines from goog,reading the literary masterpieces of the past,learning real, concrete skills need to become popular and cool.
I have no idea how this is to be accomplished.
Good “pull quote” on the tactic of continuous propaganda. That indeed is the tactic that the Dems are using against Trump and his followers.
