They don’t care if the GOP dies as long as the country is stolen from the citizens.

Hand wringers? Bedwetters? I forget how did the mid terms go?

I think the base has good gauge on what the Stupid Party is up to here. Continue to support the GOP enabling of the ongoing coup if you wish. We won’t be.

” Looks like McConnell is moving to remove President Trump. The fact that he is playing along with Dems is absolutely disgusting. “

that’s complete bullshit. McConnell has stated many times that he’s going to quickly ram through any Senate trial if the House votes to impeach, and not let such a trial turn into a media circus ... bing, bam, not guilty, done; Trump wins four more years ...

That’s a great question for DNI Ratcliffe. Oh, wait, the Senate GOP torpedo Trump’s DNI pick after it was widely reported former DNI Coates was obstructing investigation into the coup. The arrogance of this breathtaking. Here we have a POTUS of their own party under a treasonous assault and his own party does not feel he is entitled to pick his DNI.

Mitch McConnell is going to squeeze the President for everything he can get. McConnell thinks he will be the kingmaker... well, Kingtearerdowner. If he doesn’t get what he wants, he will vote to convict

He also thinks he will ingratiate himself to the Democrats for doing this. He is an idiot.

McConnell will pocket tens of millions, maybe hundreds of millions, from Wall Street for removing Trump.

funny thing is, if they really didn’t want Trump in office, they would’ve made sure he was never elected...

I disagree that Mitch is intending to remove Trump and playing along with the Rats. If anything, the opposite is true.

I agree with your second and third points.

I do wonder if the Rats do an impeachment (I am not convinced they will unlike many others), that the next step may be Trump taking this to the Courts arguing that what has happened does not meet the threshold of impeachment. The SCOTUS may say it doesn’t get involved in the workings of the House and Senate but it sure might be interesting. I believe Alan Dershowitz suggested something similar.

If President Trump is convicted by the Senate and removed from office can he still run for a second term?

Democrats want beltway chaos and media hysteria. Impeachment is their vehicle. The GOP wants Trump gone every bit as much as the Dems do. It should be no surprise at all McConnell refuses to substantively support Trump here.

To get Congress to do what they are really supposed to do, Trump should tell Congress to (a) legislate a law that directs the executive to obtain a treaty with a state that requires for the U.S. to institute the military action, with that state (which state???), that Congress it wants to see, or (b) legislate a declaration of war, naming who we are at war with and what the war aims are.

If Congress can’t do either (a) or (b), Trump should veto any suggestions they have on our military forces in Syria.

This is not to take a position against or agreeing with the new policy as regards Syria. This is about Congress abdicating its war powers authority and then wanting to kibitz about what it allowed the executive to do on their own. Trump can remind them they gave no Congressional backing to the policy regarding what we were doing in Syria in the first place. It was all done by executive action sans Congress. Now Congress is trying to tell the executive to go back to doing what the executive was doing before, that Congress never authorized.

Again, I am not claiming support for or opposition to the current policy change regarding Syria.

I am opposed to a United States Congress that abdicates its authority left and right, and then complains like a petulant child when the executive, with Congress compliant abdication, suddenly does something Congress thought was not part of the plan, when there was no plan given by, approved by or established with Congressional action - just the executive acting on their own.

What Congress really needs to do is take back all their war powers authority, or shut up.

When we need Congressional action in support of some military action, Congress wants to avoid action or avoid specifics, so they can claim it’s not their fault. But when they let the executive have their way, then they want to play Monday morning quarterback.

It would be political suicide for them to remove him from office, what scares me is that these corrupt senators are just as guilty as Biden where China and Ukraine are concerned, they are also up to their eyeballs in this Russia BS!!! This crap could all come out in a trial in the senate, the ONLY way McConnell can hide their involvement also IS to shut the whole damn thing down on lack of evidence!!! There is STILL a glimpse of hope that Barr and Durham will come through with the evidence needed to shut these Libs up forever!!!! Then there is the fact that the Dems will be SCREAMING that Barr and Durham are just putting the information forward as retribution for impeachment!!!

Ot going to happen, not with the popularity Trump has, and sure as hell not without the money he is making. I personally think he is going to tell Schumer that if impeachment charges get brought up, unless Schumer agrees to drop it with McConnell, the President has the right to discovery as a defense, and everybody goes down but Trump if that happens.
