When a person - NOT in CA-CA land - fills up his/her gas tank, gasses escape from the fuel filler (where the gas cap goes) as the liquid gasoline enters the tank.

These gasses are, by law, captured and sucked into a filtering/collector in CA-CA land instead of just escaping.

Filters cost money to change, vacuum pumps need to be kept working. CA-CA has heavy fines for non/improper compliance.

Why is fuel so expensive?

REGULATION!

Too many gasoline blends and other high costs you mention contribute to the high gasoline prices.

But state gasoline taxes per gallon are by far the highest in the nation.

The state makes more per gallon from their self-imposed gasoline taxes than the oil companies make.

Don't these bozos know their own state?

Everybody else in the country knows why their gasoline prices at the pump are so high but the leaders of the state don't have a clue?
