Scheer Genius

A few random thoughts on a grey morning after:

~According to the deranged dominion's useless and government-subsidized media, Canadians' priorities in this election were climate change and indigenous reconciliation, and the breakout star of the campaign was NDP leader Jagmeet Singh.

Back in the real world, Mr Singh's party lost over a third of its seats, and twenty per cent of its vote, and is no longer the third biggest caucus in the House of Commons. And, whatever voters may tell pollsters about global climate concerns and indigenous reconciliation, the real consequences of the last four years are a resurgent Québécois nationalism and Albertan alienation. Both are testament to what Justin's "sunny ways" boil down to in practice.

~As has often been said, Canadians rarely deny a party promoted to majority a second majority. The last time it happened was in 1935 - to R B Bennett's Tories. However, to the best of my recollection, during the '35 campaign old flickering silent movies did not surface of milord Bennett capering about in blackface with a banana stuffed down his trousers. As I pleaded three weeks ago:

Couldn't we have contemplated the sheer weirdness of Canada's head of government a while longer? On the election debate stage, [Trudeau] will be the only blackface devotee. Likewise at the G7 summit. And indeed at the G20. And Nato. If I'm not entirely confident about making the same claim of the Commonwealth Conference, it's only because Her Majesty's biennial beano has commanded the presence of some rum coves over the years, but nevertheless I am certain that Justin with his thrice-confessed blackface has worn it more than all the other prime ministers combined.

Canada should be colder, I think.

Andrew Scheer’s campaign wasn’t to win. Two thirds of Canadians voted for leftist parties.

The Liberals lost not because the Tories beat them but because other leftist parties poached votes from them.

The Liberals will now have to make concessions to the Dippers or Blocquistes to remain in power.

Lil Justin’s glow has faded and Trudeaumania is long past its selling date.

There are enough dedicated voters down East to guarantee a liberal win. Liberals were largely shut out in the West.

It’s like 5 nations with nothing in common. The Maritimes, Quebec, Toronto-Vancouver city states, The Parries, and Nunavut/the far north.

The only thing that brought them together was a bizarre loyalty to a defunct empire and not being the U.S.. Without that, what is the point?

Even after Adscam came gift wrapped to the voters in the early 2000s, voters in Ontario still gave Paul Martin two election victories. The upside to all of this is that these voters are going to learn the hard way that it is going to be cheap when Justin begins working with the NDP socialists and others. And that likely more stinky stuff about him and the Liberals corrupt antics will come to light and that will damage his (and hopefully) the Liberal brand even more so.

Jagmeet Singh is chief of the party concerned with Indian reconciliation?

I think I discern the problem...

Pardon me, I meant to say the above in my original post.

Just goes to show that Canadians are more F’d up than Americans. As for the jerk who heads up the so-called Conservatives, he simply is Canada’s answer to Mitt Romney. With Trudeau having the maturity of a 16 year old boy, the Conservatives should have won in a landslide.

Singh reminds me of Howard Dean if you guys can remember that far back. Hailed on Time Magazine as the next POTUS but it went nowhere.

I digress, but I still wonder if Greta Thunberg was unleashed for the very purpose of affecting the Canadian election. Americans are smart and are not falling for global warming lies anymore, Canadians not so much. Did this urgency propel votes out of the NDP to the Liberals who have a plan - as terrible as that plan is?

Actually it was the other way around. Liberals poached Green and NDP votes.

In any case we tried pure conservatism under Harper and voters rejected it. Then tried watered down agenda under Scheer and Canadians still said no. Even with blackface and the SNC Lavalin corruption. The corruption is so deep that SNC went up almost 25% on the stock market after Justin won.

I wonder though if Scheer saying he is pro life scared Canadians. There is no chance Scheer was going to touch abortion, but Canadians are so damn determined to kill babies just him saying so was enough.

I hear this analysis a lot but it is not wholly accurate. Yes, in Alberta and SK they were shut out. But in BC it was a three way tie. The problem is the efficiency of Liberal votes. An example is back East, many ridings were won by the Liberals by 400 to 1000 votes. The movement of liberals into suburban areas have flipped seats. Meanwhile in Prince George BC, the Conservatives won by a whopping 30,000 votes! Across northern BC AB and SK, the margins in ridings for Conservative wins were huge. Even in many ridings in Ontario and New Brunswick the margins are large in ridings Conservatives won in. This means a lot of wasted votes.

It is really more subtle than regional. In BC it is rural and suburban vs city. But Vancouver Island is a totally different exception going totally alt left. In AB and SK rural and suburban vs Edmonton downtown. In Manitoba again rural vs city. Same in Ontario and same in New Brunswick. Can’t comment on PQ as I don’t know enough.

The English were smart to treat the first Canadians, who were mostly French, better than the French crown treated its own citizens. The created a huge amount of loyalty. The militia attacks from the USA into Canada were total failures, as per US historical accounts. And then you had the movement after the American revolution of royalists into Canada. Later Canada became more English than French.

But sadly Canada was put together on a terrible premise of Quebec never losing seats in Parliament despite a declining population and on inter provincial welfare agreements. Because wages are generally highest in AB, even though AB is in a recession, it basically pays for premium welfare system in Quebec. For instance Quebec has $10 a day daycare system. And yet Quebec is still massively in debt, more debt per capita than any other province.

Oh boy he has a fan base. Hard to believe but he does.

Canada is not very conservative. Consider we don’t have a conservative news outlet of any kind.
