Pennsylvania lawmakers in the Republican-led state legislature introduced a heartbeat abortion bill Monday that would ban abortions once an unborn babys heartbeat can be detected, generally between the sixth and seventh week of pregnancy.
When you hear a babys heartbeat, everything changes, said State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R) during a news conference. If you can be declared dead when the heart stops, why not declared alive when it starts?
Borowicz joined State Sen. Doug Mastriano (R) in fulfilling their promise to introduce legislation Senate Bill 912 and House Bill 1977
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, 18,507 of the 30,011 abortions performed in 2017 in the state were conducted at eight weeks gestation or less.

Nice try. But this will go nowhere, as Democrat Gov. Wolf will veto the bill. Wolf will not allow the execution of convicted murderers on PAs death row. But hes perfectly fine with the execution of the innocent unborn.
But who knows? Maybe the Supreme Court will take a peak at this.
Nice gesture, but headed for a guaranteed veto...
Yes, this is not going anywhere, in fact if there was a GOP Governor, I would lay odds this bill would never get introduced.
I hate to be so cynical, but after living in this commonwealth for most of the last 33 years, I see nothing here other than some political theater.
Go look at the states current Secretary of Health and that’s all you need to know about how insane this state is.
The SC ruled abortion legal up to viability. The pro-life groups should re-visit, under current medical practices/advances, when viability starts. It used to be 26 weeks (two tri-mesters).
Show me a viable teenager that can feed himself without money or handouts....like a fetus...
Of course he will and has stated as much. But it’s good we’re another state that’s on the record as supporting the Heartbeat Abortion Bill...and this is traveling nationwide.
