The Internet _is_ decentralized.
There are vast high-speed data highways which make it snappy & convenient, but given outages/blockages/censorship there is (China-type national firewalls aside) no real centralization.
There is virtual centralization:
Amazon: shopping
Google: search and advertising
Facebook & Twitter: social media
