Zuckerberg launches public defense of Facebook as attacks mount

Zuckerberg in recent weeks has made a flurry of public and private appearances to make the case for his company and stave off anger from policymakers on both sides of the aisle.

From livestreaming a Q&A with Facebook staff to meeting with GOP lawmakers and conservative pundits, Zuckerberg has been making the rounds, a sharp break from his company's normal strategy of deploying other high-level executives in moments of crisis.

But the meetings with conservatives have drawn criticism from some quarters.

“They’ve obviously proven very sensitive to conservative criticism and so I think it’s a part of trying to basically call conservatives off of Facebook,” Miller said.

“I also think the feud with Warren comes into play here — I think there’s a sense that a lot of the Democrats leading the conversation are not persuadable, and so if Democrats have made up their minds on Facebook maybe we can win back some conservative hearts and minds.”

“If I was advising Facebook I would say look: Democrats are not going to warm up to you again,” a former technology counsel at the House Energy and Commerce committee said. “So you need to suck up to Republicans because that is your best counter to what is likely to be a Democrat at some point in power.”

The upshot:

Facebook has long sided with liberal Democrats. However, when FB was found to be running Russian ads and according to Democrats it cost the election for Hillary, Democrats turned on Zuckerberg.

Since Democrats now hate FB the best chance FB has moving forward is to side with Conservatives and become a free speech platform and stop censoring Conservative content

Any criticism Democrats voice about big companies is all phony baloney. Politicians are the mafia. They make threats against large businesses, the businesses give the pols large, sweaty wads of cash (disguised as campaign contributions), and the politicians then shut up and move to the next target. The reason there are lobbyists in DC is to buy protection as much as it is to buy favors.

Hillary was an expert at this. She ended up on the boards of some companies after she ranted and raved about them. Then she shut up.

The idea that FB was running Russian ads that didn’t support Hillary is ludicrous. They had already bought and paid for her—for what logical reason would they not want a US president who is already in their pocket?

Suck berg bribed crooked judges and Government officials to buy a huge chunk of land in Hawaii which is supposed to be preserved for public use in perpetuity by the indigenous people.
