There are two problems with long-term ‘help’ for the Kurds.
First, there is the PKK relationship to the Kurds, which is the funnel for military hardware funding. Drug distribution into Europe, money-laundering, and kidnappings....all part of the PKK agenda. It makes no sense to hook ourselves up to the Kurds.
Second, unless we really think this is a good idea, the Kurd idea was a carving off of northern Syria to be their homeland. It’s simply not in the US interest to sign up to that position.
If anyone in Europe or the Russians themselves want to partner up and get heavily involved....fine.
The PKK is just one faction of the Kurdish people just as the Weather Underground or Black Lives Matter or the Libertarian Party, Democrats, Republicans, Pentecosts, Mormons, are just factions of Americans.
Like these groups there are often internal factions, and often there are temporary alliances even among factions with otherwise hostile relationships, when conditions force it.
