Source to Fox's Chris Wallace : 'Chance' Senate GOP Votes to Impeach

There is a 20% chance Senate Republicans would be inclined to vote to impeach and remove President Donald Trump, a Republican source told "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace.

Wallace told White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney during an interview Sunday that there seems to be some Republicans who, "if not breaking with the president – distancing themselves from the president."

"I talked to a very well-connected Republican in Washington this week," Wallace added.

"Somebody whose name you would know well, who says, that 'if the House votes to impeach and it gets to a trial in the Senate, there is now a 20% chance,' he believes – obviously it's just an estimate – now a 20% chance enough Republicans will vote with the Democrats to remove the president."

Mulvaney called the speculation "absurd."

"This comment about a 20% chance this person clearly doesn't know what they're talking about," Mulvaney said.

Mulvaney pointed to President Trump's unpopular move with Republicans on a troop withdrawal in Syria, suggesting they might bend on support for the president but they will not break because "eventually they have to go back home" to their Trump-supporting districts.

Fox News' Wallace has been famously anti-Trump, slamming his colleagues for supporting the president of the United States and reportedly attacking and mocking the president in private.

80% chance they don’t. I like Trump’s odds so go ahead and impeach him tomorrow and let’s get this on.

Yeah well...I talked to a very well-connected MSM tycoon in New York this week and they said that Chris likes to diddle pre-teen boys.

What “source”?

Most likely a nonexistent “source”, they are just trying to make it more acceptable for R-s to vote for impeachment.

The odds that the republican senate will vote to remove and the odds that rank and file republicans will leave to start a MAGA party are the same.

As soon as I read the top, Romney immediately popped into my head. My intuition is usually pretty reliable.

If so, what a two-faced jerk.

As if I needed to prove why I don’t watch Chris Wallace. This article is all the proof I need.

The chances that the Senate would “impeach” Trump is by definition ZERO. The Senate votes up or down on conviction not impeachment. So the headline is just nonsense.

OTOH, the chances that there will be 67 votes for conviction in the Senate is as close to ZERO as matters. Not going to happen. Just more Chris Wallace/Dem/Marxist wishful thinking.

Chris Wallace, like Peggy Noonan and so many others in the media who cover politics in ‘visible’ venues, are, at the end of the day, driven by their ‘pride’ at being part of what they consider a high stature and incomparably important aspect of society and the world. In short, they think they are in ‘the big leagues’, and stature is immensely important to them. Even Peggy, who would most likely vehemently deny this.

The point is that they hate Trump because he diminishes the stature of their supposed ‘big league’ (i.e. Washington politics and government). They are big people, handing out wisdom and information for the littler people. This is their mind-set.

Trump, on the other hand, makes it clear that few of them have any intrinsic credibility. Metaphorically (but totally accurately) he's the guy who can walk into an exceptionally expensive French Restaurant in Manhattan or DC (because he's successful and can afford it), and instead of basking in the glow of being part of the ‘important people’, he orders a steak and asks why their menu is so limited.

In short, he lowers their public importance, and they absolutely live for that importance.

Well, then I hope they know they’ll get thrown out on their ears the next election.

Well connected Republican source is Kristol, who is no longer a Republican.

Republican is defined as pro Trump. The never Trumpers are defined as people without a party. And make no mistake about this, Kristol’s fundraising has cratered. THAT is why the hatred exists.

Wallace is scum.

But I believe the vote is much closer than we’d like to think. All those Never Trumper Deep State Senators and just about the entire Senate compromised under the blackmailing of the US intel community (and its allies abroad) probably do just about put the Senate in play.

No reason to be overconfident and all the more reason for Team Trump to get tough with their enemies.

Wallace needs a punch in the mouth. The guy is the same snarky, smirking liberal sh!t his old man was.

In the 1974 Congressional elections, the Dhimmis gained nearly 50 seats. In the 1976 elections, the Dhimmis gained only 1 additional seat. Nixon resigned in Aug 1974. It was a slaughter.

I bet there is a 50% chance if the senate sid vote to impeach, the people would burn down the capital to ashes.

Wallace. What d'ya expect?

Look at how many backstabbing POS there are in the senate. Graham is good with Trump one day, against him the next. Romney was never good with Trump, neutral at best.

“So the Republicans in the Senate would remove one of the most successful presidents in decades ... because of SYRIA?”

I could definitely see that happening. Perpetual war in the middle east, and open borders at home, are two top priorities for GOP leaders.

How many of these GOP Senators voted for Hillary or Evan McMullin in 2016? A lot, I bet. We know that Lindsey voted for Evan. I suspect Romney might have too. But they’re not the only ones. The Senate GOP is a Bush-Neocon nest.
