British independence is alive again thanks to Boris Johnson's triumph, says LEO MCKINSTRY

The dream of British independence is alive again. A new era of national freedom beckons, thanks to Boris Johnson’s remarkable triumph in Brussels. In achieving this historic breakthrough on a deal, the Prime Minister has played his part superbly in attempting to honour the 2016 referendum result.

After three years of shameful procrastination, it is now up to MPs to follow his magnificent lead and finally deliver Brexit. If they back him, Britain will set out confidently on the road to becoming a self-governing nation once more. But if they indulge in more of their squalid, irresponsible manoeuvres against this hard-won agreement, they will sink Brexit and shatter the last vestiges of faith in our democratic system. In such bleak circumstances, public contempt and derision will be their deserved fate.

Boris Johnson deserves better than more dither and delay.

Through his own dynamism and resolution, he has pulled off one the great masterstrokes of modern British history, a diplomatic coup fit to rank alongside Tony Blair’s Good Friday Agreement in 1998 and Margaret Thatcher’s European Community rebate in 1984.

Like Mrs Thatcher, who achieved her victory by wielding her handbag, Johnson gained his unexpected win partly through the sheer force of his unique personality.

This was a triumph that was driven by his charisma, vision and refusal to be daunted by the obstacles.

Has the vote been taken?

“it is now up to MPs”

Again.
I caught a bit of that Marxist tool Corbin this morning. The squad needs to give this guy honorary membership. He’s the wrong color but fits right in.

Yes, deal wasn’t accepted so we’re headed for a no deal Brexit. Suits Johnson just fine.

Its what he really wanted all along.

Vote is postponed, and lots of Remainer protestors out on the streets causing Parliament to postpone the vote. Good. Another bad deal was in the offing, and now this will eat up more time until Oct. 31st, when Boris can still get the U.K. out of the grip of the EU, by just letting BREXIT end by no deal being in place.

Yes because the EU already laid out its terms.

Brits can still send that Art. 49 letter to Brussels to terminate the whole Brexit ruckus.

Don’t see it happening so we’re counting down the days to British Independence Day.

Keep yer fingers crossed.

The opposition is maintaining that a recently passed law directs Boris to ask the EU for another extension; he says it doesn't. This is probably headed back to court and the British courts don't seem a bulwark defending British independence.

The author of this sceed aparently did not read the details of the “deal” Boris got. You cannot make a silk purse out of s sows ear no matter how hard you try. I think Boris got a bad deal but to save face has to say he triumphed, when he didn’t. Just to say it’s an “exit” when EU law will continue to supercede U.K. sovereignty on many matters of trade, military affarirs, foreign affaris and law is no less than to lie, to pretend. A “no deal” exit will be better as far as true U.K. independence goes.

I think this deal was mean to fail so that the EU would not give an extension and there will be a hard Brexit.
