I have been gcoming back here as often as I can make it for 16 years and have seen higher levels of prosperity every time I go. There were ox-carts on the road in 2003. Now there are cars in many yards in Cam Đức, "my" town, the streets are paved and the small town has become a large burg on the highway and Sài Gòn has traffic jams.
I am normally a bit snarky about American fast food joints opening there as the local food is much better and is cheaper. KFC is already there and I would like to see Chick-Fil-A in Sài Gòn. The Vietnamese do like fried chicken and I would rather see Chick-Fil-A than KFC. If they would put Maria La Vang in the window they would draw a repeat traffic from the Catholics without alienating the Buddhists et al.
