Somewhat it does. Ill make this example. No one disputes that there are some very dangerous neighborhoods in Chicago. But to whom are they most dangerous? The residents, thats who.
Chicago has had almost 2,300 shootings this year and almost 400 dead. Out of those numbers a total of 7 police officers were shot, 2 of them fatally. So just by the numbers cops are actually a hell of a lot safer than the average resident of these neighborhoods.
Is it a stressful job? No doubt. Is it a job that exposes police officers to the absolute worst of our society on an almost daily basis? No doubt there, either.
But it isnt all that dangerous, especially compared to other occupations.
