I bought my Garand years ago in memory of my eldest Brother who carried one during the Korean Police Action. He loved that rifle. Told about crawling through a water filled mud hole then tipping it up to drain the barrel and then joining the fight.

The m14 or civilian version Springfield m1a is the only other rifle I will buy based on affordability. The groans thru the ranks when they were swapped out for the m16 was long and loud. The gyrenes held on to theirs the longest with some holdouts like freeper Chainmail not turning his in and scavenging ammo from m60 belts. The guys in the field knew what worked. Half my platoon carried captured AKs along with their 16s.
