While it's impossible to measure the grief of a man who loses his young wife and infant daughter in a car collision, it's both possible and necessary to take the measure of a man who spent years falsely claiming the other driver may have been drunk.
During Joe Biden's 2008 run as Barack Obama's running mate, Pamela Hamill -- the daughter of that other driver -- asked that the then-senator make a public apology for the years he'd spent impugning her father.
Curtis Dunn was driving the tractor-trailer that collided with the car driven by Biden's first wife, Neilia. Neilia was carrying their 13-month-old infant daughter with her, and young sons Beau and Hunter were in the car, too. They were on their way to buy a Christmas tree when the accident occurred. Police at the time made the determination that Mrs. Biden drove into the path of the oncoming truck, possibly because she was looking the wrong way at a stop sign. Neilia and the girl died of their injuries, despite Dunn's attempts to provide first aid, and the Bidens' sons were also hurt very badly. POLITICO wrote in January of this year that a friend of Biden’s looked into the accident at the time and concluded, "She had a stop sign. The truck driver did not."

I know that intersection well. It is tricky even for me, but back then it was more wooded an the stop kind of just came up on you. She most likely blew the stop or pulled out before double checking. The trucker was going downhill on a pretty steep grade and would have no place to go or time to stop. He told the lie about the driver for years. Joe is scum.

New linden Hill Road and Upper Pike Creek Road. I probably went through that intersection 100’s if not 1000’s of times. It is the type of intersection you look two, maybe three times before pulling out if you value your life. Back then Pike Creek was a two lane with no shoulder back road. I took it to get see my best friend who went to Saint Mark’s HS. Driver tested dead sober. Joe’s a dick, but I’m sure you know that.

About ten years ago, my daughters college textbook, English maybe had a paragraph warning students against plagiarism and reference Joe Biden after he stole Neil Kinnock’s autobiography.

Distracted could mean drunk, it will never be known but I am sure if she was Biden knew she was and made sure the media covered it up. Most politicians wives do have a drinking problem. She made the mistake and the driver was blamed for her mistake.

Only if one is weak and allows themselves to be distracted. When you and or your kids lives are on the line, you do not allow yourself to be distracted. End of story. If ya pull away from a stop sign and fail to yield to on-coming traffic, you are legally at fault and often dead wrong.
If one cannot stop themselves from being distracted while behind the wheel, they should not be driving and endangering everyone on the road. End of story and end of debate.
