In WV (having recently returned after almost 40 years!) the teacher’s unions are definitely a problem. They dominate state politics and I have been told done so for a number of years. They have got their salary structure up to the point that the average teacher makes $45K for 9 months work, not a lot. However the average family of 4 in the state makes $39.5K for 12 months work and they see nothing wrong with asking that family of 4 to dig in deeper to their pockets and pay more. They have started copying the UMW in aggressive strike tactics. In this last WV teacher’s strike, property damage, nails on the road, & physical threats occurred.
That and the national dept of ed. Sever those and the body can be saved. Anything short of that is just putting bandages on a gangrenous wound.
Boy and howdy, you have that right!
But you have that now without schools. All of that.
The only difference is that their is no concentration of students in one building for some idiotic mass shooter to target.
So my solution would not only be cheaper, but safer as well.
