The issue of gay rights and recognition and acceptance of the LGBTQ community has moved at warp speedin political terms anywaythis past decade.
I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage, said the candidate Barack Obama in 2008.
At Thursday nights nationally televised forum on LGBTQ rights, candidate Beto ORourke showed how far, and how quickly, the Democratic Party has moved. The former Texas congressman caused quite a stir when he said he would support revoking the tax-exempt status of religious institutionscolleges, churches, and charitiesif they opposed same-sex marriage.

The candidates view isnt entirely new to Democrats. It echoes, for example, thenSolicitor General Donald Verrillis concession during his oral argument in Obergefell v. Hodges in 2015 that the tax-exempt status of Christian colleges and universities who hold traditional views of marriage was going to be an issue. And it aligns with the Harvard law professor Mark Tushnets policy recommendation to take a hard line with religious conservatives because, after all, trying to be nice to the losers didnt work well after the Civil War, and taking a hard line seemed to work reasonably well in Germany and Japan after 1945.

Seeing a rainbow on a “church” is God’s warning to believers it is controlled by Satan.
The assumption seems to be that conservative/ traditional religious bodies and their organizations should just roll over and take this. Could a case be made that such a move violates the First Amendment at two points? 1. It amounts to establishment of religion because the government would limit the tax exemption to religious bodies it approves of. 2. It violates the free exercise of religion by having government dictate religious belief and practice.
If not, then maybe conservative Christians, Jews, and Muslims might want to take a “hard line” against the regime. Don’t pay the tax. What is the government going to do, lock our houses of worship and jail clergy and the faithful who resist? That would make for bad visuals, but this crowd might be beyond caring about that. I hope the country is not so far gone to put up with that but, in case it is, then at least we will have obeyed God rather than man, and can trust that God will honor that.
I hate to say it but the left has successfully destroyed a good portion of America’s churches and faith. They’re on their way in turning the DNC into the state religion.
The brutal annihilation of Christianity is the core motive of Democrats.
That alleged law professor Tushnet is an effing idiot! Post WWII, we COMPLETELY REBUILT both Germany and Japan economically, plus assumed 100% of their defense requirements! Now on the other hand, did the USSR do ONE THING positive for Eastern Europe? HELL NO!!!
“The brutal annihilation of Christianity is the core motive of Democrats.”
I think you meant to say:
“The brutal annihilation of Christianity is the core motive of DEMON-RATS”
fixed it- EVERYTHING the DEMONRATS do is to be:
1. against God
2. Against Jesus Christ
3. Against the Holy spirit
4. Against the U.S.A.
A lot of Rinos are with them
Beto is so popular in TX that one sees some of his 2018 black signs still on display.
It’s a shame that so many “Christians” also believe in the totalitarianism of the Democrats.
No, Hispanics were heavily for Beto in 2018.
Seems that the poor churches will be affected even more.
95% of Democrats are ATHEISTS!
Actually 90% of Catholics I know are democrats. They dont really believe God will punish them....they believe God is only love...not a judge. Thats why they believe in social justice...they are their own judge and gods.
The Tithe is to show our trust in God and love for Him, not mammon.
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38
Perhaps tne of the best things that could happen to God’s church is to take the “tax deduction” aspect away and see if God’s promise is true. (It is!)
The only part of Scripture that the Liberals/Democrats agree with is "Thou shall have no other gods before me...ME, the State!"
It's a little more complicated than that. The Democrats are proposing that contributors to churches will not be able to take a deduction against their income tax for their tithes and contributions. This may hurt the income of churches.
Conservatives dire predictions upon the redefinition/undefinition of marriage has come to nearly full fruition. The fake assurances of the Gaystapo, that they would never tell churches what to do, has been predictably shown to be as false as conservatives knew they were from the beginning.
From Scott Livelys blog:
Every LGBT Flag on a Formerly Christian Church Celebrates a Demonic Conquest. Each One Represents:
- An Explicit Repudiation of the Bible.
- A Supremely Arrogant Rejection of the Self-Evident Natural Order of Gods Creation.
- And a Grossly Blasphemous Reinvention of Jesus Christ as a Champion of Sodomy.

Then don’t worry about the deduction. What is more important — the deduction or religious freedom?
This is a hill I am willing to die on — literally. When the First Amendment goes, then for me the deal is off. Without the foundation of the First Amendment, there is nothing else, and America will have become a sham.
Unless people start pushing back somewhere, and making the necessary sacrifices, the repression will never end. The Left will never stop until it has remade the whole country in its own sick twisted image. I would hope that there is enough spunk in dedicated religious people to give the Left a taste of the whirlwind.
People just like those Democrat social programs; so they keep going Democrat.
The fact that churches are supposedly subject to taxation is a fiction created by the IRS. Even before the income tax, churches were considered to be exempt because of the First Amendment.
Good point.
