That is a major reason why young people are glomming on to the idea of student loan forgiveness.
They go into debt for a degree, and then find themselves sitting in a cube next to an H1B holder who got his degree essentially for free in his home country.

Yes. The cost of getting a degree in the US has vastly exceeded the rate of inflation over the last 40 years. So they’re paying a lot more up front.
On the back end, they’re getting screwed again because all the cheap labor that has been imported has hurt their job prospects and depressed wages.
I know a lot of people here just love to bash younger people for lacking discipline and/or a work ethic. There’s some truth to this but what they don’t acknowledge is that younger people today are getting a vastly worse deal than they did 40 years ago.....when many of those who bash them now were that age.
