A lot of people built this moment. LeBron is a phenomenally gifted athlete with something less than a high school education. Anyone who thinks LeBron studied in high school is not paying attention. LeBron’s focus, his job, since the age of 8, has been to play basketball, which he has excelled at doing.

Now, LeBron is fabulously wealthy, with any number of hangers on telling him on a daily basis how good, and smart and wonderful he is. The media asks LeBron his opinion on any number of topics, as if playing basketball at a high level makes a person smart.

LeBron is a person of average intelligence, with a very sparse education. He’s been put in a position, (social commentary), where the best he can do is fail. Sure he’s filled with hubris, but it’s come to him through an enabling society.

It really isn’t much different than asking a homeless person what they think the fed should do at the next meeting.

Yeah, in the Middle Ages, the minstrels would visit towns and do their performances. The powers that be would allow the people to enjoy the show but would never turn over authority to the minstrel teams. We could learn a lesson from them.
