From an economic stand point there is interest in Donetsk. But the average person in Ukraine and Russia couldn’t care less. It’s a backwater on the border with Russia. Those folks in Donbas are naturally going to have something of an affinity for Russia due to geography and culture. It’s always been a manufactured crisis by Putinist Russia. It goes away the moment Putin decides it is not worth it.
