The Western Massachusetts prison at Greenfield was notorious for graft. Prisoners at Walpole and Concord with money stashed could get transferred.
If they still had money, the warden and guards would give inmates women, liquor, drugs or whatever.
Special inmates were allowed to go anywhere within the state on special licenses to see Mom, a girlfriend or to rub out his gang successor, etc.
State Police and municipal cops never messed with Corrections graft.
