Whistleblower protections are in place to prevent retaliation or intimidation by supervisors or agencies, by firing someone or passing them over for promotion.
It doesn’t mean he can make things up and then hide behind anonymity, or neglect to safeguard state secrets, or mishandle classified material. It isn’t a get out of jail free card. Most importantly, it doesn’t shield them from criminal prosecution as a result of potential unlawful activity.
He should be worried about that, sounds like it is very much deserved. “Fear for safety” sounds like standard boilerplate BS. Maybe he should be in fear of Democrats, but that’s his problem. Epstein didn’t fare very well.
