here’s the thing ... this was all predicted practically to the minute three days ago, so we all had plenty of time to get ready ... i blew out my sprinkler system, finished up a few outdoor projects, put a new filter in the furnace, went to the store for a few things, and that was it. and all done while it was a wonderful 77 degrees, with great sunshine and no wind!
it was only about 3 inches of snow anyway, and only a few degrees below freezing, so all in all, quite a mild little cold snap ... the only unusual thing about it was that the weather had been so splendidly warm right prior to the cold snap ...
The low was 16 here which is more than a few degrees below freezing IMO. But this wasn’t the first hard frost here anyway. That happened on Oct. 3rd.
As you say though, it was no surprise. I don’t think it was cold enough to kill any car batteries either unless they were already close to dead.
