Seems like I read a story about the Standard Hotel that involved a 55 gallon drum of Muriatic acid, and the possibility it was used to dispose of a body.

There were two barrels of acid involved. The employees disposed of one by pouring out one into the storm drainage system. The resultant fumes filtered into a LA underground station. Caused an “environmental” incident.

When traced to their source the hotel claimed it was used to balance the PH in their pool. Small problem only a few gallons 1-2 needed to be on hand. What were they doing with over 100 gallons on hand? That was never explained.
