Former Rep. Trey Gowdy has agreed to a request from the White House to assist President Trump as the Democrat-led impeachment inquiry moves forward.
Though initial reports claimed that Gowdy had declined an invite from the White House to participate in the president's defense, the former GOP representative of South Carolina is now on board to assist, according to Law & Crime. Gowdy was approached by the White House this week as potential legal counsel for Trump as he prepares to fight against an impeachment investigation stemming from a July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to a report from CNN. Though Gowdy is an accomplished attorney, the nature of his involvement in Trump's fight against impeachment is not immediately clear. "Confirmed, per a senior White House official, who says Trump has blessed the move," Washington Post White House reporter Josh Dawsey tweeted on Tuesday night. "Trey Gowdy is on the Trump team."

Why do you think Gowdy left Congress?
Because he was able to effectively expose wrong-doing and nothing was done about it.
Gowdy left Congress to use his beltway connections and make money in the private sector.
“I suppose I could wrong about that. Maybe all you guys know something that Trump doesnt. Time will tell on that one.”
I suspect that you have a pattern of being wrong, but that’s just a guess. Wait, I shouldn’t guess, not enough information right? I should be an expert before I guess. Same thing with opinions, darn people want to have opinions without knowing everything, what the heck is wrong with them?!!
I think you’re on to something here. Why do we let people vote? I mean really, most people don’t know up from down, and they are voting for people to fill important positions.
People need to learn to sit in the corner unless something comes up that they are expert in, right comrade?
At least now the Democrats will know everything Trump is doing, now that their boy Gowdy is there to spy for them.
Dont you think you are being unfair to Mr. Gowdy. The only power he had was to question/investigate which he did quite well. It was up to the DOJ to prosecute, blame them!
No one forced Gowdy to make the rounds on fake news TV during campaign season 2016 and trash POTUS. He did that at the behest of Ryan, obviously.
Nobody has Trey Gowdys grasp and knowledge of Obama era corruption as well as the Obama coup against Trump
He is the authoritative source and he has been very, very careful not to taint himself with any potential conflicts with bias and he has been a supporter of the truth, not a political partisan for Trump
Things are happening and it seems Trump is going all in against Washington hi partisan corruption which is going to be pretty amazing
Rudy just raised the stakes about as high as they go and made it clear not even Obama is above the law
Hiring Gowdy signals this a political battle and not a legal battle. Gowdy’s specialty is PR. Going on TV and in this role it will be throwing red meat to the base. So we get all wee wee’d up and GOTV in 2020.
Gowdy pledged before his first election that he would not make a career of Congress.
Looks like you and I are on the same page with this. :)
Yep. I say this to people: All you need to know about trump is this - he didn’t throw Kavanaugh under the bus.
Trump govern’s like a man that has nothing to lose. And being somewhat old myself, I understand where that will lead us.
Gowdy is one of the only people on planet Earth who has seen the “hacked” FISA warrant against Trump with his own eyes, and that may prove valuable for Trump.
WHY would anyone bring-on *any* lawyer that states, “If you’ve done nothing ‘wrong’, why worry about talking (to Meuller)”???
And the media is already filling the airwaves with a clip of Gowdy from 2012 ranting about how the White House cannot ignore Congressional subpoenas, Presidents are not above the law, blah, blah, blah. The optics are probably worse than any help Gowdy can provide.
No he was not. All he could do is turn it over to the Obama DOJ and have them laugh at congress.
Howdy is a good man and Im glad he is on Trumps team
Gowdy had to power to charge anyone as a congressman either. Nor does any other congressman.
In WWI, WWII and the American Civil War, people danced in the streets when war was declared and young men rushed to recruiting stations to sign up so they could get a piece of the action.
They were literally afraid the war would end before they got a taste of battle.
Didnt work out quite the they thought it would
See similar mentality at work on impeachment
This is going to be very bitter but the fact that Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer and Jerry Nadler are the Generals on the Dem side does give some optimism
On a thread posted months ago here on FR, the poster claimed that while building his fortune in NYC, Trump—along with Guliani—took on the mob and did SERIOUS damage to their enterprise.
Not sure if what that poster wrote is true, but if it is, I think Trump might just relish taking on the SWAMP.
made it clear not even Obama is above the law
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He is above the Constitution, it says he can’t be President and yet he was sworn in anyway.
Both parties wanted the natural protections of the natural born citizen clause neutered.
Both parties colluded to abrogate the Constitution.
ALL of our elected and appointed went along with it.
Obama is NOT a natural born citizen.
No one born with more than ONE nationality is NATURALLY an American.
It is true about Guiliani. He went head first against them.
Expect that some revelations on this topic may well be forthcoming in the near future
I understand that, I should have been more exact in my language - Gowdy could have referred anybody to the Justice Department for prosecution.
