Why do we have an EU ambassador anyway? Each EU nation already has an ambassador.
Wouldn’t having a EU weenie dumpng on Trump constitute foreign influence of domestic politics?
America even have an UN ambassador.

Perhaps the question should be “Why does each EU nation have an ambassador?”. They are not fully sovereign states, they have no control over their foreign policy, so why should they have separate embassies?
I suppose because the EU is kind of a separate entity from each of the European countries themselves. Kind of like their own little 28 country UN. Each country has its own parliament & head of gov’t & head of state but there is also a separate EU Commission & EU Parliament that makes the laws & budget & regulations governing the collective countries. Since it’s kind of a separate entity, a separate ambassador makes sense.
