She is one of only 2 GOP senators representing states that Clinton won.
Clinton won Maine’s First Congressional District for one electoral vote,
Trump won Maine’s Second Congressional District, at 27,000 square miles the largest in area east of the Mississippi, by 10 points. This district covers 80% of the state. Trump won this district by 10 points and received one electoral vote. Collins is from this district. Her family owned a saw mill in northern Maine as far back as the 1840’s.
Hillary won the statewide popular vote by 2.9% for two additional electoral votes. She advertised much more heavily than Donald Trump here in Maine in 2016. If candidate Trump had spent more money, I think he would have carried the whole state.
Candidate Trump and sons Don Jr., Eric and wife Lara made many trips here. The president still has a lot of support here in Maine.
Maine was a mixed bag.
