A minister said a key omission in VP Pence's prayer of 2017's Day of Prayer was the lack of a mention of repentance. If you want God to “hear from heaven” when you pray, then there is more to the equation! It also requires that we humble ourselves, seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways. Mr. Pence clearly does not want to tell Americans that they could be guilty of sin and wickedness—and that they must repent!.... .... President Trump in the Oval Office signed the day of prayer proclamation. The pastor who led the prayer also referred to 2 Chronicles 7:14. He did include the phrase “forgive their sin,” but like the vice president, he omitted “turn from their wicked ways.”
I am not a member of Rev. Flurry's congregation but I believe sincere repentance is necessary for all of us, starting with myself.
