He didnt deserve the Oscar for Acting when he won for Raging Bull. He was just being himself in that movie. No need to act. A truly sick film, suited him fine.
(Sorta like when Hanoi Jane played a prostitute in Klute, forgettable acting but somehow quite believable as a whore.)

Well, if you want to get deep into psychology and metaphysics... do we ever really know anyone? Under extreme pressure, people behave in extreme ways.
Actors are certainly unusual people, or they wouldn’t be actors. But I don’t think it is accurate to paint them all with an extremely broad brush.

I believe it. I use to drive a Yellow cab in NYC years ago and picked up a woman one day who told me she worked for DeNiro. I think she was a nanny or maid, and she told me the same thing, he was an abusive sc*mbag and a disgusting pig.

I hope he goes down HARD!
Maybe this will help him clean up his filthy mouth.
He used to be one of my favorite actors but now I refuse to watch anything he is in, even old reruns.

Always fun to hear about the self-inflicted bad luck and pains of an actor whose only thespian "talent" is to project his honest-to-life personality: an impudent, always-angry street punk. Bwahaha!

Hollywood is a very personal place. People get hired/fired on connections. This really depends on Dr Niros connections. I have stories about other business issues from people who were there that support this very personal type of behavior. I am gathering that her own business connections were not that strong. Her work is in such a specialized industry that it would have taken a lot of motivation for her to try to move to another industry. Its a big wrench and many people do not want to risk it. It's not unusual for a guy to specialize in something which ties him down to a particular employer, who may find the guy's specialized expertise valuable for a while and pay him well.
Then the employer goes bust, or decides to outsource the specialized area to India, or for whatever reason the guy's specialized job evaporates, and there's not many other potential employers who need that expertise. In that case the guy is expected to not whine, and do as best he can getting something else, probably at a lower pay level.
It's called life.
