“How does this happen? Did they all just stand there as he stabbed them individually?”

I have asked myself this every time this sort of attack happens. Do they have some mandate to stand there and take it? Use some harsh language in some twisted socialistic view to disarm the knife wielding perp? Was the attacker some sort of ninja? Its mind boggling.

Exactly! I try to imagine the cops here in Alabama standing around while this is going on - it is inconceivable.

Stabbing is seriously deadly and quick. I knew an old feller, probably had some unsavory history, had served time I think, and he told me he would much rather be shot, than stabbed, if he had to make a choice.

Well, I heard John Wick killed four guys in a nightclub with a pencil. An f’n pencil! Who does that?

unlike a mass shooter, when someone hell-bent on death and destruction with a sharp knife, you don’t hear any warning shots. And if the attacker can prevent the first few screams, or quickly move to terminate the near-by witnesses, lots of carnage can take place before the environment realizes what is going on.

March 1, 2014: 163 victims; 33 fatal - using knives.

Personally I think it’s shock that “freezes” our response to unexpected attack. I know I experienced that shock effect when I had an auto accident (I’ve had 2 in 85 years).
