GOP demands 'equal playing field' ahead of former Ukraine envoy Volker's scheduled testimony

House Republicans are demanding an “equal playing field” in the Democrat-led impeachment probe against President Trump after Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff said ahead of Thursday’s scheduled testimony from former U.S. envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker that GOP members of the Foreign Affairs Committee will not be permitted to ask questions or have equal representation during the hearing.

Volker is scheduled to be the first key witness to testify as part of a probe into an anonymous whistleblower’s complaint about a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s family’s dealings in the country. The interview will be behind closed doors.

The lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee wrote Wednesday evening: “I was alarmed to learn – less than 24 hours before the first interview is scheduled to start – that it will be led by the Intelligence Committee and that questioning will be done solely by their staff.”

“We were told that only a single Republican professional staffer from the Foreign Affairs Committee will be allowed to attend while the majority will have two,” Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, the committee’s ranking member, continued. “These constraints on committee and Republican participation are unacceptable and at odds with House Rules and general fairness. We demand equal representation and participation in this inquiry, there is too much at stake for America and Congress.”

In the letter addressed to Chairman Eliot L. Engel, D-N.Y., McCaul further argued that despite statements made by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and other Democrats, “there is not a “House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry” because the entire House has not voted on the matter.

No questions by Republicans allowed at hearing. No allowance of Trump to face his accuser. This is a complete, corrupt, rail-roading farce!

The Republicans need to stand up en-mass and reject this, physically at the door of the hearings if necessary.

Where the hell are they???

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and other Democrats, “there is not a “House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry”

A true statement. It's an attempted coup, or the next shots in their initiation of our second civil war.

A strongly worded letter...

That'll show 'em.

When is this party going to grow some balls? The Republican party IS Donald Trump. Do they really think we will support them if they don't fight?

See Full text of McCaul letter to Engle, rigged process. It is also a fake process.

Hat tip Andy Mccarthy for casual mention that the subpoenas are not enforcible in a court of law ...

Fake Subpoena

Pompeo Subpoenaed for Ukraine Documents as House Committees Accelerate Impeachment Inquiry
September 27 "Subpoena" from Engle, Schiff, Cummings

Real Subpoena

August 15 Subpoena from Nadler to Lewandowski

Now, why let it play for awhile? A minor objection has been made, but it's barely making news. This process is so rigged.

If you let a child carry on a tantrum, tip tables, yell and scream, and let it go on, it annoys more and more people in the restaurant. If you nip the tantrum in the bud, barely noticed.

Ever wonder about the meaning of “kangaroo court”? Well, we’re seeing one right before our eyes.

Do you wonder why Pelousy, Schitt, and “Gerald the Neck” won’t allow a vote on an impeachment “inquiry”? A formal impeachment inquiry would allow the minority to subpoena witnesses, which the lefties definitely don’t want, and would either expose a buttload of Dems in districts that Trump carried in 2016 or would fail to pass.

It's all about the "401K class", and yes, they hate Trump.

Yes we will. Do you have any historical evidence to suggest otherwise? Any at all?

There is no historical evidence...

Trump has changed both the rules and the playing field.

The Republican party needs to tread lightly on the electorate. It's a brand, new world. The GOP would do well to listen to the thunder...

Yes. They (Republicans) need to GET LOUD about this attempted Coup- overthrow of a duly elected president by the democrat/Communist party.

Call press conferences as well. The public needs to know that Republicans have been shut out-Further proof that this IS a Coup.

When are the democrats going to be investigated/prosecuted for their OBVIOUS corruption?

What would happen if even a fraction of the Republican members marched into the session? Anybody remember Anita Hill?

No repercussions would come from it, and the media would have to focus on their complaint at least for one night.
