Thanks for giving credit to ol’ Yertle.

He may not be everything we might desire in an aggressive majority leaders, but he does well within his limitations.

And to think that a while back, a lot of FReepers were lumping him in with a genuine coward, Paul Ryan.

Keep getting those judges confirmed, Sen. Mitch. That will be your legacy to the nation.

There are all types, I guess. McConnell, like Ryan, played ball with the big money, Uniparty power brokers for most of his career, but unlike Ryan, he was savvy enough to maintain enough independence to not be controlled/blackmailed by them. He cooperated with them and, in exchange, received their support - but he didn’t allow himself to be compromised by them. Unlike Ryan, when his old Uniparty bosses were defeated he was not beholden to them (i.e. they didn’t have enough dirt on him to keep him in line) and was able to switch allegiance to Trump.

Although it would be hard to characterize McConnell as a great statesman/defender of the Republic, he ultimately fell on the right side of history so I guess he deserves credit for that.

This is all speculation on my part. Make what you will with it.
