Had a cousin, Army, who was passed over for his Full Bird during that time period. He couldn’t figure it out. He was popular with those under his command, those whom commanded him and had a steady string of “Excellent, Considered for rapid advancements” on his reports.
He spoke to his immediate CO off the book one day. CO told him it was a remark he had made seven or more months previously. An NCO had said something about Clinton. Coz stated that the army had “survived politicians, both good and bad, it would survive the present one. Do your duty and soldier on.”
A very junior officer overheard and reported it. It cost my cousin his immediate promotion.
His CO fixed it by having him volunteer for duty in South Korea.
After six months in SK he got his promotion.
He learned. Even though he is now retired he refuses to discuss politics.

Gabbard did a vicious takedown of Kamala Harris. Harris hasn’t recovered since.
