*** Something is seriously wrong with our approach to peace officer duties, if killing innocent people is found to just be an unfortunate, but accepted part of the profession. ***

Do you think that attitude of something akin to “collateral damage” when referring to Innocents murdered in military engagements has spread to law enforcement in part because of the militarization of our law enforcement agencies?

Maybe that as well, but perhaps when the “peace officer” role transitioned to the “law enforcement officer” role, due to proliferation of laws and regulations? And then there is the war on drugs aspect.

Look up the story of officer Regina Tasca, who intervened to stop a beatdown of a mentally ill man some years ago. She’s the kind of officer I want working my neighborhood.

I support peace officers; it is the system that is the problem.

Yes. That, and the fact that "officer safety" somehow transcends any other concerns.
