The “nice thing” back in the Nixon days is that there were No, None, Nada, all news 24/7 tv channels spewing hate. Talk radio was not really in existence. I do remember listening to Joe Pine on a local small town radio station. And political correctness had not yet infected tv shows.

The other side of that coin was that all of the few media agencies - NBC, CBS, ABC and the newspapers - were firmly in the Leftist's hands and there were no Fox, Drudge, Freerepublic, etc. to get the true message out.

Nixon wasn't really a conservative but he was a conscientious, effective president but he was attacked 24/7.

The Left hated him for being an anticommunist and also knew that if they didn't get him out, the NVA would never win (as per his response to the North Vietnamese Easter Offensive in '73).

The Left attacked Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan and even globalist George Bush - but weren't able to muster the same intensity as they did with Richard Nixon.
