If the Dems did pass Articles of Impeachment and take Trump to trial in the Senate, wouldn’t Trump lawyers be able to call anybody as a witness and ask them anything while they are under oath? Would that be what the Dems really want?

They are not going to vote articles of impeachment.
They just want this silly-arse “investigation” as a method of leaking things that they think will damage Trump throughout the campaign.
