I think their pretext is Trump is using American foreign policy as a tool to attack his political opponent.
They accuse Trump of withholding US military aid to Ukraine until they re-open the investigation into Biden’s business dealings. Quid Pro Quo in other words.

It deserves wide circulation among the American populace as a means of enlightenment and preparation for citizenship in a formerly free society, where progressivism has dominated the "public square" for way too long--especially in academic circles.
The writer explains why and how so-called "Progressives" have turned the Founders' ideas of liberty upside down in order to impose the ideas of tyranny on this once-free society, as they have censored the ideas of liberty through the imposition of the tool we call "political correctness."
He states:

Not yet having experienced the kind of rejection that their European counterparts have, they revel in their success in changing American culture over the past half-century, and look to Gramscian notions of cultural hegemony as confirming their practice of forcing their own cultural identities onto America. The Democratic Party’s constituencies already endorse its intellectuals’ aim not to convince the rest of society, but to subdue it. For them, this is the Revolution.
