This is well-know and fairly well understood. Every 1 degree C. higher the surface air temp, on a global average, yields a predictable decrease in overall mortality. Just as every additional week in the average growing season --- due to warmth pushing back the first frost date ---results in *big* increases in crop success and food.
I'm stumped.

Growing Degree Days is a term for the amount of heat available for the crops to grow and mature.
Minnesota is at about 80% of normal this year. This is global cooling for real.
