The person who comes into the convention to save the day will not have the baggage of having to take unelectable positions to appeal to the Democrats lunatic base nor will that candidate be tainted with the bitter animosity of the Democrat base like Hillary was with angry Bernie Bots who refused to bite for Hillary, just like the pissed off Hillary PUMAs who refused to support Barak Obama in 2008

I don't think it is possible for someone outside the field of candidates to be nominated at the convention. By the time the of the convention, I can't imagine more than 2 or 3 candidates left. The nominee would be one of those. I don't think the rules would permit them to nominate someone else. If something happens to a candidate after the convention, the executive committee would make the selection.

I’m pretty sure that’s for the first ballot only. After that, anyone can be nominated. And more importantly, the establishment superdelegates then get to vote. So if no one comes to the convention with a majority, Hillary has a real shot.
