Money From Nothing: Democrats' Socialism for Free
realclearpolitics ^ | 09/18/2019 | Richard Porter

The Green New Deal, free college, free universal health care, universal basic income, the elimination of student debt, bailouts for unfunded government worker pensions and other ideas animating the new socialist wing of the Democrat Party leave most Americans scratching their heads: Where could they possibly get the money for that?

Trillions upon trillions of dollars in proposed new spending, without any apparent regard to financing. Many people ask: Are these candidates and their young supporters deluded?

Are these candidates and their young supporters deluded?

The supporters are evenly divided. Some are deluded; some are pure evil and know exactly what they are demanding. As for the candidates, all of them know better, but they want the absolute power that they can buy with empty promises.

“Are these candidates and their young supporters deluded?”

Have they yet run out of Other People’s Money? I think not. Get back to me when each of the few survivors among us are cowering naked and half-starved behind a rock, when there is truly no one left to envy and no time for the luxury of it. Then the delusion will cease.

A primer on fiat currency. The bottom line is that the Dems think they can fund utopia by printing money. They’ve given it a new name but it’s an old game. And as usual in socialist utopias, they’ll run that game for the benefit of party elite first, then party members, and the rest of us who will, after all, be funding the thing get the crumbs if we behave.

Money from Nothing is right.

Basically we print it at ever-increasing rates, then pretend it has value.

No one on the planet questions that presumption because the alternative would be to plunge the world into a cataclysmic economic depression that would return us to a Middle Ages lifestyle.

Thus they are gonna get away with it for quite a long time to come.

I honestly believe that is their goal. They know the USA is the strongest nation on earth, and they know they have to bring it down to take over the world. IMHO

These people love power. Know history

The National Debt is $22,000,000,000,000 and rising.

The War has already been lost. The word Trillion means nothing. It’s just a word.

The democrats think that our capitalistic economy is so successful that it can produce a successful socialistic economy.

Their answer is that we are already paying for. By simply taking the money individuals are already spending on tuition and healthcare, and routing that money into government controlled programs to provide the same, most of the funding problem is resolved. Then they simply take a little more money from everyone else and use that to ensure that everyone gets the same coverage. Progressives think the problem is capitalism taking a profit off the amount currently being spent. Hence, they think funding it is not a problem.

In the long run, being communist at heart, they just expect you to give all your money to the government and the government will take proper care of you. Of course this only works if they are in charge.

My answer to them is that I am in a position to drop out of the economy if they think they are going to take all my money and make all my decisions for me. They can’t function without taxpayer money, and for some reason think all the productive taxpayers are going to continue being productive taxpayers even when the incentive of keeping one’s earned income is taken away.

There are numerous examples of hyperinflation caused by inflating the money supply. In post WW-I Germany bank notes became so worthless they were being used for wallpaper, burned in stoves for heating and large baskets were need to carry enough bank notes to buy a loaf of bread. More recently Zimbabwe printed bank notes in billion and trillion denominations so citizens could more easily carry the cash necessary for small purchases. Zimbabwe’s banks were charging up to70% interest on loans. This will be the United States if any of these socialists get elected president.

Basically we print it at ever-increasing rates, then pretend it has value.

We don't even bother printing it anymore, we just create it out of ones and zeros.
