Exactly. The whole premise of the article so ridiculous that it never should have been written. Jihadi suicide bombers will have ZERO effect on the commercialization of autonomous vehicles.
Self driving cars WON’T control where people go. They can ALREADY tax you per mile if they want, through numerous means.
Working on hell. They already exist and are in use in multiple countries. Including the US.
Are you getting into a car manufactured after 2000? Guess what. The computer in there is more in charge than you are.
Guess they didn’t see the Dr. Who episode where the driverless cars started killing all the passengers with gas.
LOL, really? Are you actually comparing my car (2019) with a driver less car?
Gimmee a break!
You said you wouldn’t get in a car that the computer is in charge. You got EFI? ABS? Traction control? Guess what, all of those systems (and plenty of other modern features) put the computer in charge of your car. It can override your inputs and decide what to do on its own.
“...put the computer in charge of your car. It can override your inputs and decide what to do on its own.”
No, it can’t “decide to do what it wants” Quit reading those Stephen King Novels.
While you’re at it, put down the bong.
umm, ok.
Yup, but not by you.
Actually that’s EXACTLY what those systems do. EFI doesn’t care if you jam the gas peddle down, it will increase the gas flow at the programmed rate. ABS flutters the brakes for you. Traction control changes power to the wheels. All of these systems OVERRIDE you. No Stephen King. No bong. Actually understanding how your car computer works.
My point in saying I would not get into a driverless car is all about having more control over where when and how I die if I am to die in a car.
Like people computers make mistakes (gigo)and are subject to being randomly cantankerous for a host of reasons. Besides, I actually enjoy driving whennot in traffic and there would be no point in going for a drive in the country on a beautiful morning if infact I couldn’t drive.
Fact be known, I am even a bit uncomfortable being in a car of which I am not the driver. Its a control thing.
No they do not. Do you know how easy it is for a manned driver to spoof a driverless car getting in front of it to force it to break? There is no way it can work.
