"An addendum that will get me flamed and perhaps banned. But think about this. If Trump can “Direct” ATF to change the legal definition of an accessory without scientific basis or action by congress, as is the case with the “Bump-Stock Ban”. Then all Butt-O has to do as Pres. is make a similar demand to ATF and all semi-auto’s become machine-guns! ATF has been “Enforcing” the MG “laws” for decades. We might want to remember what happened to several Americans leading up to the FOPA-86. Hint, yes, people WERE shot in their beds by ATF goons! "

Agree 100 percent. People do not realize how dangerous this bumpstock ban truly is. I have said before we are now at the point where a toaster over could be defined as a machine gun so it would be quit easy now as you say to define any semi a machine gun. If the text of our laws are fluid as this clearly has set in precedent then the laws say whatever the government wants them to say.

What is this ATF incident you refer? I'm familiar with a lot of these but not sure what you are talking about. When and where did it happen?

1971, pre-internet.
Not the only incident but one I always remember.
This is the sort of action that got the FOPA-86 introduced and eventually passed.

First link I found, https://www.boogieonline.com/revolution/firearms/enforce/ballew.html

I have read much better detailed accounts in the past.
With the name and date I expect details may be available.

If Butt-O gets his way this is the sort of tragedy that will become common again.
