Robert Beto ORourke explained he plans to use fines to compel American gun owners to comply with his AR-15 ban, during a weekend exchange with reporters.
ORourke made his claim in a video posted by Fox4 DFWs Teresa Riley.
He was asked how he plans to make Americans comply with his AR-15 ban and he said, I begin by saying we expect our fellow Americans to follow the law. If they do not there would be a fine imposed to compel them to follow the law.
Question: what happens if people dont sell their guns back to the govt....answer: pic.twitter.com/wGuXJlBZQG— Teresa Riley (@TeresaRFox4) September 15, 2019
ORourke went to talk about the example of Australia, citing how that country put in place a similar ban. He claimed Australia witnessed, a near 50 percent reduction in gun violence deaths as a result. But ORourke did not mention that rifles are not a statistically significant contributor to overall gun deaths in the U.S.

Yep, I recall something about tea.
Sorry, every time I here someone deride Beto his childhood nickname, I am reminded of Raphael Eduardo Cruz wanting to be called Ted.
Obama and the Dems used fines to compel compliance with the Affordable Care Act. Just look how well that turned out.
Yup, if he is going to turn us all into criminals, we are going to be the best darn criminals we can be. He has no idea what he is about to unleash.
Beto keeps ramping up his gun-grabbing insanity... how long before he proposes summary execution for law-abiding citizens who refuse to allow their legally owned firearms be stolen by the government?
But... Beto doesn't give a damn if illegals cross over into our country - breaking the law in the process. No, for Beto and his type 'the law' only applies to enemies... people like us - traditional Americans.
Hey beat-off. Just go away. Thanks
I don’t know whether to be disgusted, amazed or just dismayed at so many comments claiming We will never accept/comply with this latest proposed infringement of our RKBA!
But I’ve seen countless post on this forum claiming the NFA-34 act which made it virtually impossible for most Americans to legally own machine guns (Until inflation made the $200.00 Tax less of a burden) is just fine!
I realize most here grew up with the constant propaganda that “Machine-guns and silencers are only used by criminals, they have no legitimate use for law abiding citizens”. (Except the military and police of course!)
Hey, Hollywood has made thousands of movies to “Prove” this as a “Fact”.
But NOW we are going to stand up to Gov. Org and resist at all cost?
History is a lesson board, some need to read up and think a bit harder.
Gov. has been down this road before, they empowered another alphabet agency to “Enforce” the NFA-34 “Law”.
So for the this Dork’s plan the enforcement agency and mechanisms are already in place!
what an idiot this Beto person is.
idiot.
THANK HEAVEN it is made manifest now, before he can go any further in politics
"we are going to take your AR15's and AKs"
It was very clear to everyone what was meant was to forcibly take private property. There was no mention of fines or any sort of moderation of his intent. It was clear he meant sending men with guns to the homes of citizens to force compliance.
I believe many people in the state of Texas felt that was a direct threat. We have a law against making threats of terror, see except below. While I'm not a lawyer, it appears beto violated Part 2. and 5. of the statute. Maybe the people of Texas should be contacting Attorney General, Ken Paxton.
In the State of Texas a terrorist threat is defined as follows.
TERRORISTIC THREAT
(a) A person commits an offense if he threatens to commit any offense involving violence to any person or property with intent to:
1 cause a reaction of any type to his threat[s] by an official or volunteer agency organized to deal with emergencies;
2 place any person in fear of imminent serious bodily injury;
3 prevent or interrupt the occupation or use of a building; room; place of assembly; place to which the public has access; place of employment or occupation; aircraft, automobile, or other form of conveyance; or other public place;
4 cause impairment or interruption of public communications, public transportation, public water, gas, or power supply or other public service;
5 place the public or a substantial group of the public in fear of serious bodily injury; or
6 influence the conduct or activities of a branch or agency of the federal government, the state, or a political subdivision of the state.
Good thing there’s no registry.
I heard that if Beto doesn’t get a bump in the polls from tnis stunt, livestreaming his vasectomy it next ...
An addendum that will get me flamed and perhaps banned.
But think about this.
If Trump can “Direct” ATF to change the legal definition of an accessory without scientific basis or action by congress, as is the case with the “Bump-Stock Ban”.
Then all Butt-O has to do as Pres. is make a similar demand to ATF and all semi-auto’s become machine-guns!
ATF has been “Enforcing” the MG “laws” for decades.
We might want to remember what happened to several Americans leading up to the FOPA-86.
Hint, yes, people WERE shot in their beds by ATF goons!
You first scumbag Francis. It's right there in our Bill of Rights which limit what lawmakers/government can do. It clearly says "shall not be infringed". What part of that are you having trouble understanding butt breath?
In my opinion you are committing treason and sedition against the American people and should be hanged by the neck until dead in the public square for this.
I think we passed the point of no return a while back.
At this point, a fool like Beto is just more fuel for the fire.
No, John Roberts will call it a tax.
Beto’s picture looks like an inbred royal,
Thanks for the thread KC_Lion!
and bullets will be used to resist it.
