Hopefully, you never get to the point that you actually need pain meds. Some people are in excruciating pain due to disease or broken bones or whatever. Some are chronic, meaning it's unrelenting and there is no relief other than pain meds. There is no cure only relief by meds. Now, legitimate cases are being told they need to 'stop'/get weaned off and doctors are refusing to prescribe opiates because of the unrelenting scrutiny. Now, people are sent to an all new 'cottage industry' - pain clinics which do absolutely nothing.

The abusers? All this crap infiltrated rural America when obama got in office. He declared war on middle America and invited our neighbors to the South in via open borders. Our kids are dropping like flies and it's from Heroin laced with Fentanyl (sp) not oxycodone/oxycontin.

These are just my observations but as another poster said, the 'spike' happened when fentanyl hit. 90% of which is coming in through the southern border.

You totally missed my point. The whole cause of this debacle is the “War on (some) Drugs.”

By some drugs, I mean pretty much anything *NOT* produced by the pharmaceutical industrial complex.

We had a member of our extended family addicted to oxi in 2006. We had to rescue two kids from CPS. In the course of that, I learned the identity of the Dr. who was peddling scripts to all comers for $100 a shot. Every morning there would be a line out his office door into the parking lot. I called the State Police and gave them the info,but it was more than three. years before they shut him down. The police and politicians were at fault in this too.

I tend to agree. Why buy Oxy on the black market at $60 a pill when $5 gets a seal of Fentanyl laced smack.
