Fayetteville police are investigating after a person was shot to death by a homeowner during a home invasion.
Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were dispatched at 6:48 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of Lands End Road in reference to a report of a shooting, according to a news release. At the scene, officers found a man with apparent gunshot wounds who was unresponsive and later pronounced dead by medical personnel on scene, the release said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that two men forced open the front door of the residence and entered the home, the release said. One of the men had a firearm. The homeowner, who was inside at the time, retrieved his own firearm and exchanged fire with the armed subject, the release said. One man was struck and died from his injuries, and the other fled the scene.

And that's what it's considered in the south. New Yawkas beware...
It’s shame that the lady was shot in the led. Must’ve been painful..
“The homeowner, who was inside at the time, retrieved his own firearm and exchanged fire with the armed subject, the release said.
One man was struck and died from his injuries, and the other fled the scene.”
Well, Shakespeare said it best: “All’s well that ends well.”
And I sure do love stories with a happy ending, don’t you?
Who stages a home invasion at 6:30 in the evening??
North Carolina. Who, what, where, when, why and how. Man, I need to go teach Journalism classes somewhere.
“Its shame that the lady was shot in the led. Mustve been painful..”
Especially to all those Zeppelins out there.
nobody proofs
Still daylight and it’s a town home community.
Drugs probably.
Years ago at the end of our block a guy went into a home at 3:30pm. The kid had just come home from school and the guy followed her in. He went to another part of the house, was discovered by the kid, and the guy ran out. The kid ran out of the house to the neighbors.
The guy went back into the house! Stole some stuff. He never was caught!
She needs to get the Led out
Perhaps slightly better than being shot in the axx?
:) I too was trying to figure out what that could possibly be...
That type of thing is leaking into to local news stations where I live. I see them put info on the screen with misspelled words an a fairly regular basis.
I assume the female was shot in the LEG.
Many of the Fayetteville police are sissified jerks. I have observed them in action and the courtroom. Their badges inflated their heads.
Glad the homeowner delt with the situation and not the police.
There’s no need to proof. They have a spell chequers.
As I understand it, home invasion while people are home - on purpose - is fairly common. If criminals waited until you were gone, that’s just B&E for robbery. Staging the crime when you are home means they want you. If you’re lucky it is just because they “only” want you there to ensure alarms are off, you’ll open a home safe, can be intimidated into telling them where valuables are.... Or maybe they want you there for rape, murder, hostages.... I don’t want to find out the hard way. I keep a loaded firearm within arms reach at all times. There have been a few home invasions in our area, one within a couple of miles of my house.
There’ve been some in my neck of the woods, too.
But none perpetrated during daylight hours.
Good. Two men break in. They deserve to die right on the spot.
Translation from self-important Police-ese: shots fired, cops called.
By the way, does anyone but the police and the media refer to the 400th, 800th, etc. block of any street? House numbering in the suburbs is random at best and there are rarely blocks in shape or in size.

Translation from self-important Police-ese: guy looked dead and was dead.
By the way, if the police can't tell upon visual inspection what a gunshot wound looks like then they need their eyesight checked or they need different careers.

Translation from self-important Police-ese: cops eyeballed the place. Two guys broke in with a gun, shot at the homeowner who had his own gun and were shot themselves. One guy died, the other ran away.
'Exchanged fire' is one of the hoariest police/media cliches. It implies that it's a Napoleonic skirmish with lines of muskets taking turns.
A female victim inside the home was shot in the led...
Let's hope she's shining brightly somewhere
