My niece by marriage is Lumbee. I have met her extended family. They generally look African American but that can vary widely. There was a minister in the family and everybody was very “country” in accent and pace of life. I can definitely see them voting their conscience, preserving their ways.
The Lumbee I know are extremely hard workers and a large number of them work in heavy construction so I’m not too surprised by this.
The media in the next election are going to be microslicing out exit poll groups like “Rural African Americans” or “Frequent Church Attending Hispanics” to figure out why minority groups are becoming less loyal to tbe Democrats.
