The Trump administration is preparing to ban flavored e-cigarettes as federal health officials call for restrictions to combat an outbreak of a mysterious lung disease that has sickened hundreds and killed at least six people, U.S. health secretary Alex Azar told reporters Wednesday. The Food and Drug Administration is finalizing its guidance to remove e-cigarette flavors other than tobacco from the market because children are attracted to other flavors, Azar said, following a meeting at the Oval Office with President Donald Trump. It could take the FDA several weeks to develop the guidelines, he said. The administration will also take enforcement action if it finds e-cigarette makers are intentionally targeting children, Azar said.

STUPID
In a discussion about this on the radio (for what it’s worth) a caller from Wisconsin claimed that almost all of the lung problem cases there have been caused by vaping illegal THC cartridges. The THC and vitamin E are interacting somehow to cause the problem. And just this morning I heard on the news that a big THC operation was busted in Wisconsin. They were making 5000 cartridges per day. Maybe something to keep in mind.
Vaping for me is neither here nor there. I understand it has been useful to help people quit smoking. Having said that, I don’t understand why non-smokers would take it up. For kids, I guess there’s something cool about it, just as with cigarettes.
No, I think until they find out what is killing these kids its a common sense move. The flavor manufacturers can apply for approval one by one. I think they will find it is the street knockoffs that are the problem.
True.
But he was the only actual nationalist running in 2016.
And probably will be again in 2020.
There is no guarantee that there will be even one in 2024.
Kids don’t need to be doing any of it.....a little parental oversight would be great in that respect!
Glad to know the government is going to save us from ourselves.
Dumb idea. Really dumb idea... incentivizing tobacco use as an alternative. Defiance. Big Brother. Nanny state.
The hot new store for the millennials and a bit older to open up...glad I’m not one and didn’t get suckered into the quick financial boom. Me thinks this will shrink in market size very soon.
If there is anything we can do to protect an estimated 0.000000019% of the population from themselves, we must act.
Yeah.
There was supposed to be all these medical problems and death to justify the coming ban. Since it now appears mass problems and death aren’t going to materialize they are going to give it a go and see if they can make it fly anyway.
I have a relative in the class action suit industry.she said some time ago that the mesothelioma claims were winding down and the next big thing would be popcorn lung from vaping and e-cigarettes. The flavored stuff, according to her, is downright toxic.
That’s why Trump is banning guns too.
Oh, wait, this is MSNBC.
Well you see, there is your problem. As you just conceded, you believe that socialist solutions should be forced on the public until the public can prove government intervention isnt needed.
Because that is exactly what you just posted.
Do you ever pay any attention at all to what site you are posting on?
I would say tobacco flavor is less than five percent of the market.
It’s really difficult to come up with an artificial tobacco flavor. The only people interested are those trying to quit real tobacco.
And only a small portion of those, at that.
I actually had welcomed vaping for smokers. I thought surely vaping would be safer than inhaling tar. But was disappointed when kids picked it up.
Iron lungs are the new cool
Good. Get rid of all that shit.
Vitamin E is an oil, directly inhaling vaporized oil does damage to your lungs.
