Okay...I just have to ask....what is a Feminist Mormon?
My dad used to travel to Utah on business a lot and it sounded like they were all living the June Cleaver life.
Well, my (perhaps distorted by cynicism at this point) perspective is that at a certain young age, the little Mormons are given a bit of leeway to explore their rebellious side, while they’re away at college or whatever, before being fully shackled into adulthood and its commitments.
This particular person was attending a very liberal west coast college and got infected with the feminism virus, and was eager to talk about it.
But as I said, in the end, we parted ways and went back to our ‘educational experiences’, and that was that. Indications were that her parents already had a beau chosen for her and all was pre-ordained. I have no idea if it turned out that way.
But in the end, I just suspect that it was just an episode of youthful rebellion on her part.
And on the other hand, here I was being the nice, and (silly me) reasonably chaste young protestant fellow. What was I thinking?
I think it did kind of mess with her indoctrination a bit, because I didn’t act like a proper member of the evil patriarchy. Go fig.
